The six-time African women's player of the year has declared her favourites for this year's award.

Asisat Oshoala, a six-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year, has shared her picks for the 2024 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.

In a candid post via her Snapchat channel, the Bay FC striker endorsed her Super Falcons teammate and first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie alongside Malawi's Tabitha Chawinga and Zambia's Barbra Banda.

Responding to a follower who predicted Chawinga to sweep home the grand prize she wrote:

This comes after Oshoala herself missed out on this year’s shortlist for the prestigious accolade.

Chiamaka Nnadozie, the standout Nigerian goalkeeper, has enjoyed a stellar year, making her one of the favourites for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year and Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year awards.

Currently playing for Paris FC, Nnadozie has impressed with her commanding performances both for club and country.

Her consistency between the posts has made her an irreplaceable asset for the Super Falcons.

However, she faces serious competition from Africa’s elite football talents, including Barbra Banda, who shone with Zambia at the Olympics, the NWSL season, and NWSL playoffs, and also became the second most expensive women's signing in history.

Nigeria’s strong presence in the 2024 CAF Awards

Beyond Nnadozie, Nigerian football continues to make waves at the CAF Awards.

Rising star Chiamaka Okwuchukwu has been nominated for Young Player of the Year, reflecting the country’s growing pool of talent.

Furthermore, the Super Falcons are contenders for Women’s National Team of the Year, celebrating their remarkable performances on the continental stage.

Edo Queens, the reigning champions of the Nigerian Women’s League, have also earned a nomination for Women’s Club of the Year, cementing Nigeria’s dominance in women’s football.

With votes to be cast by CAF technical experts, media, and football stakeholders, Nnadozie’s chances look promising.

If she clinches the award, it would further solidify Nigeria’s reputation as a powerhouse in African football.
