Nigerian forward Gift Monday has officially joined NWSL side Washington Spirit, signing a three-year deal with an option to extend until 2028.

The move sees the Super Falcons star leave Spanish club UD Tenerife, where she enjoyed an impressive spell in front of goal.
Washington Spirit secure Nigerian talent to bolster attack
The Washington Spirit wasted no time in making a statement signing, bringing in 23-year-old Gift Monday to strengthen their attacking options in a deal, which includes an undisclosed transfer fee paid to UD Tenerife.
Head coach Jonathan Giraldez was full of praise for Monday and her unique qualities as a forward saying, “Gift has unique qualities as a forward and will add a new layer to our attacking third”.
