Super Falcons star Rinsola Babajide embraces Nigerian roots, seeks Yoruba tutor

The 26-year-old attacker, born in London to Nigerian parents, recently declared her intention to learn Yoruba language.

Super Falcons forward Rinsola Babajide is taking steps to connect with her Nigerian heritage by seeking a Yoruba language tutor.

Currently, on holiday, Babajide took to her social media platform to showcase her attempt at learning Yoruba through music.

She captioned the video on her Social media, "Learning Yoruba, the best way...through music. Rate my Yoruba out of 10 and help. Open to a private tutor."

While Babajide represented England at the youth level, she switched allegiance to Nigeria in 2023.

Her impressive performances with Liverpool, including a Player of the Season award in 2019/2020, earned her a call-up to the England training camp. However, she never featured in a competitive match for the Lioness.

Babajide made her Super Falcons debut in October 2023 during a Women's Olympic qualifier against Ethiopia.

In the game, she displayed promising talent coming off the bench. However, after Nigeria secured a spot at Paris 2024, she was surprisingly omitted from the final squad for the Olympics by coach Randy Waldrum.

Last season in Spain's top women's league, Babajide Rinsola was a key contributor for Tenerife, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.
