President Suluhu’s gift comes just a day after the country’s permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Said Yakubu delivered 20,000 tickets offered by the government. That brings the number of free tickets to 41,920.
More than half of the tickets allocated for the Taifa Stars versus Uganda Cranes round four qualifiers of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be given for free to the home fans.
The country’s president Samia Suluhu added her weight on Monday morning by buying 7,000 tickets to be distributed to fans of their national team ahead of the crucial encounter.
The match will be played inside the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium which can accommodate up to 60,000 spectators.
Tanzania goes into the game in high spirits following their 1-0 win in the reverse fixture played in Ismailia, Egypt where the homeless Cranes hosted from.
Simon Msuva scored the all-important goal that lifted them to second in Group F with four points, five behind leaders Algeria and two and one ahead of Niger and Uganda.
