Ruben Amorim praised Erik Ten Hag for Amad Diallo's growth following Manchester Derby win.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has praised his predecessors Erik ten Hag and Ruud Van Nistelrooy after Amad Diallo’s incredible showing propelled the Red Devils to derby triumph over Manchester City

Amad turns up late

In what was largely a tepid affair, Josko Gvardiol’s first-half header was almost the only goal in the contest, as Manchester City came close to securing an important victory.

In the last ten minutes, however, the Ivory Coast international won a penalty which was effortlessly dispatched by Bruno Fernandes, before rounding Ederson to score a well taken winner.

The performance was the continuation of a great run of form under Amorim, who has found Amad incredibly useful, deploying him in multiple positions.

What Amorim said

Following the match, Amorim was asked about Amad’s inspired form under his tutelage, and he explained that he only picked up from the development that was already underway under former permanent coach Ten Hag, and interim boss Van Nistelrooy.

“Erik [Ten Hag] and Ruud [Van Nistelrooy] did a great job with him, we continue that,” Amorim said about Amad. “Really important. All the players fit in my system. If they want to be in it, if they are talented, every player can fit in this system."
