The forward could be involved for the first time after missing over ten matches with an injury.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is hoping to have an important player return for the match against West Ham on Sunday.

Alejandro Garnacho – who has been absent for United’s last 12 games in all competitions - could be involved when the Red Devils tackle the Hammers. The Argentine, who signed a new long-term contract last week, has been sidelined by an ankle injury he suffered during a match against Southampton.

Garnacho has always been a threat on the wing, and United have struggled without his speed and creativity.

The teenager has enjoyed a good season with the Old Trafford outfit and has four goals and five assists from just over 1000 minutes he has played for the senior side in the current term.

He was on the scoresheet – when he found the back of the net with a winning goal – during the FA Cup fifth-round match against the Hammers.

Although he is not 100% sure that the Argentine will be involved on Sunday, Ten Hag is more optimistic about having him in the squad.

"No, I think it will be the same squad [that played Brighton on Thursday]," Ten Hag replied, when asked if he had any team news before United’s visit to the London Stadium. "Maybe one player [to add]. Garnacho. I have to see.

"Maybe he can be involved, but we will have to see how the progress can go."

Ten Hag has had to deal with serious injury issues and has ruled out the involvement of Scott McTominay on Sunday. Rapahel Varane is also not going to be available too as the Red Devils visit West Ham.

Varane has been unavailable for United since he was injured during a Europa League match against Sevilla in April. On the other hand, McTominay has been out since their match against Everton, in which he scored the opener.

A fractured metatarsal has ruled out Lisandro Martinez for the season, and his absence – and Varane's - has forced United to depend on Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and at times Luke Shaw at the heart of their midfield.

Donny van de Beek is another player who is not expected to feature in any action again before the summer.

David Moyes, on the other hand, is expected to have Nayef Aguerd, Declan Rice, and Tomas Soucek back after illness. However, Gianluca Scamacca and Kurt Zouma will not be available, while Vladimir Coufal remains doubtful with a hamstring problem.
