Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Olise blamed coaching for Manchester United's problems.

Super Eagles legend Sunday Oliseh recently sided with Rio Ferdinand’s assessment of Casemiro’s shambolic start to the season for Manchester United.

The ex-Real Madrid star was singled out for criticism after the Red Devils were embarrassed at Old Trafford by Liverpool. Casemiro had a shocker of a performance and was yanked off at half-time in the 3-0 defeat.

What Ferdinand said

Casemiro's struggles with the Red Devils did not begin this season, as he has only managed to show flashes of his brilliance in the Premier League.

Following the abysmal showing against Arne Slot's side, an excerpt from Jamie Carragher’s analysis of Casemiro last season was making the rounds, as netizens saw it as an apt description of his current predicament.

The Liverpool legend submitted that Casemiro's day in the sun was over, and he would only attract disrespect playing for a top club like Manchester United. In his words, “leave football before it leaves you.”

On Rio Ferdinand Presents, however, the legendary centre-back disagreed. In his opinion, Casemiro is being misused by the club, hence his struggle.

“I think that's highly disrespectful, especially given what my man had won,” he said about Carragher’s comments.

“If you look at the two games before this season, he has arguably been Man United’s best player,” Rio said. “I think it's easier to say he's gone, he's finished, he's too old, he's almost 32 or he's 32 years old, right? I believe, when I look at him, he's been asked to do a lot of things, like play 30-yard balls and dictate the pace of the game, etc.

“These are things that Man United would never have recruited him for because he's never been asked to do that at Real Madrid. He was cleaning up, security in front, slide-tackling, covering all the gaps and then giving other people to play football.

What Oliseh said

Oliseh, who himself occupied similar positions on the pitch as Casemiro does presently agreed with Ferdinand. He believes the Brazilian is still an elite player, and he, just like many Man United players, are struggling due to misprofiling.

“Now that is an intelligent pundit talking! @rioferdy5. Casemiro is an exceptional asset to any team when played right. When are some going to understand that, Man U problems are way beyond just players’ inadequacies?”
