The Dutchman is reportedly on borrowed time if he does not correct a huge flaw in his approach.

Erik ten Hag's managerial position at Manchester United is facing scrutiny as his team's performance has fallen short of expectations.

Ten Hag faces Man Utd scrutiny

The club's football department, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Dan Ashworth, and Jason Wilcox, are closely monitoring Ten Hag's game model and expressing concerns about the team's setup.

United's recent losses to Brighton and Liverpool, along with a narrow victory over Fulham in gameweek one, have raised questions about their midfield and defensive vulnerabilities according to a report in The Guardian

While injuries have impacted the team, there is a growing sense that Ten Hag needs to demonstrate a more dominant style of play.

Despite support from Ashworth and Omar Berrada, Ten Hag is under pressure to prove that his team can control games and dominate opponents.

The club hoped that the recent signings of Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte would strengthen the team once they are fully integrated, leading to an upswing on the pitch.

However, injuries to Yoro and the late signing of Ugarte have delayed their contributions, further hindering the Dutchman’s progress at the start of the season.

What comes next?

United will be looking for a turnaround in their fortunes after the international break, with the returns of Shaw and Hojlund providing a much-needed boost to the team's performance.

Ten Hag’s side face Southampton on September 14 as they seek a return to winning ways in the Premier League.
