The former Sony Sugar coach says his players were troubled by weather conditions in their Bungoma back yard despite the win.

Nzoia Sugar coach Salim Babu has said that bad weather in Bungoma had a toll on their pattern of play in their match against Tusker FC on Saturday.

The Sugar Millers grabbed maximum points against the Brewers in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match, which ended 1-0 at Sudi Stadium.

During the rain-soaked match Nzoia netted the all-important goal in the 21st minute through James Kibande for the side's 14th win of the season.

"It was a difficult game against a good side under a tough climate today. It affected us because we were not used to playing in rainy conditions.

We are a passing team. When you play in the wet, especially in the second half, your buildups are slightly compromised," he said.

However, Babu lauded his charges for the win and said they have to start their next game against Posta Rangers immediately.

"Very good character and resilience from my team, and winning was very important because it allowed us to keep going and prepare for the next game.

We will start our preparations tomorrow ( Sunday) because we must plan well. After all, playing away and home is different," he added.

The victory also saw Nzoia jump to third place in the standings with 51 points from 26 matches played this season.

The Sugar Millers also closed the gap between them and the log leader Gor Mahia to five points with eight games left until the end of the season.
