Nigeria’s new head coach, Finidi George, has said that he is not worried about Gernot Rohr’s knowledge of his players.

The Super Eagles will face their former head coach, Rohr who is now the coach of the Benin Republic, on Monday.

The former Super Eagles manager coached Nigeria to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia before getting sacked in 2021.

Rohr is familiar with most of the players in the current Super Eagles squad, having given debuts to Semi Ajayi, Paul Onuachu, Samuel Chukwueze, Terem Moffi, Frank Onyeka, Chidozie Awaziem, and Maduka Okoye.

Finidi George has claimed that Rohr's knowledge of his players will not change anything on Monday when his team faces Benin Republic.

According to Allnigeriasoccer, Finidi said, "That doesn't change anything. If he knows the players, doesn't know the players, it's Benin, the players that he had before they are still around, that means he should be fearful.

"If he knows the players so well and he has coached them, he should know they are a bunch of good players that we have in the national team.

"I've always said it I want to see attractive football and you must risk if you want to win, you can't just sit back and feel the goals will come, you have to enforce it which we did in the second half but unfortunately it didn't happen. We'll go to Ivory Coast and see how we can win that game."

Finidi has claimed that he is confident in his players and has warned Rohr that he should be fearful of his team.

On matchday three of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Rwanda was defeated 1-0 by Benin, marking Rohr's first victory as their manager after six draws and three losses.

The former Super Eagles manager will be looking to get the better of his former team when they face off on Monday.
