‘That’s what I want’ - Mikel Obi urges players to listen to criticism following Jackson’s rejuvenation

Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has urged players to always listen to advice that would help them improve.

A few weeks ago, the former Chelsea star criticised Nicolas Jackson, claiming he is not the striker the Blues needed in their team.

However, the Chelsea striker has responded with impressive performances for Chelsea after scoring four goals in his last five Premier League games.

Mikel Obi has now heaped praise on the Chelsea star following his improved form at the club this season.

Mikel Obi’s advice

Jackson had trouble at Chelsea the previous season and faced a lot of criticism, having failed to live up to expectations.

However, since the beginning of the season, the striker's outstanding performances have silenced his critics.

The Senegal international scored twice and provided an assist last weekend at West Ham to help Chelsea win 3-1 comfortably.

Jackson seemed to have accepted Mikel's critiques at the beginning of the season and found his form even though he confronted the Nigerian international about his remarks.

Mikel Obi has said in his podcast that he would like players to listen to what people say about them so they can improve.

During his ObiOne podcast, Mikel said, “If the players are listening and taking what we are saying and trying to improve, that’s what I want.

“After four minutes, people were saying, ‘Mikel you’ve created an absolute monster of a striker’. And that’s what I want. The guy is scoring goals, he’s doing well and we’re winning games.”

Jackson will try to keep up his strong performance and lead the Blues to a successful Premier League campaign.
