The midfielder spoke about his injury for the first time since the incident occurred, sharing how he felt and his recovery process.

Martin Odegaard suffered an ankle injury while playing for Norway during the last international break, leaving Arsenal short of midfield creativity in the last few weeks.

The midfielder focused on recovering from the injury while watching his teammate from the sidelines as they navigated a tough set of fixtures in the last few weeks, including a 2-2 draw with champions Manchester City at Etihad.

In his matchday program captain’s notes ahead of Arsenal’s Carabao Cup tie with Bolton Wanderers at the Emirates, the Ballon d’Or nominee addressed the fans, detailing his recovery process and the injury itself.

“It was a bad twist to my ankle, and I damaged some ligaments there, but it’s part of football, and now I’m just trying to recover as quickly as I can, he wrote.

He went ahead to reveal his initial fear when the injury occurred.

“It was not a nice twist, and when it happened, I felt it could be serious.

“I’ve injured my ankle before, and the pain felt a bit different this time. That’s what scared me, but from what happened it could have been worse, so in that sense I got away with it a bit.”

Odegaard has missed important matches for the Gunners in recent weeks, including the North London Derby, but he has assured the fans that he is working hard to make a quick return.

“I’m moving forward, making progress, and I’m feeling more positive every day, he wrote in Arsenal’s matchday program captain notes.

“I’m working hard, and my only thought is to get back as soon as possible. I’m at Sobha Realty Training Centre basically every day now, working hard and doing everything I can to get better.”

“I have to be careful not to push it too much, but at the same time do what I can to make sure I come back as strongly and quickly as possible. I’m trying to support the team in a different way now if I can’t be on the pitch.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed that Odegaard is only a few weeks away from making his return.
