Athletic Club's famous brothers, Inaki and Nico Williams, have come a long way in their football journey
The Williams brothers' journey to success began amidst adversity. Their parents, Felix and Maria, embarked on a perilous journey from Ghana to Spain in search of a better life.
Inaki's early experiences, from refereeing matches to supporting his family, forged his character and instilled in him a relentless work ethic. The older Williams brother reflects on their journey, stating, "We had to suffer a lot... But thanks to God, we are all here together now, living a really good life."

However, even as Inaki Williams, rose to become a prominent figure in Bilbao's football scene, he always recognised the spark of talent within his younger brother, Nico, whom he knew would become great, perhaps even greater than himself.
Despite Nico's initial nervousness on the field, Inaki served as both a mentor and guardian, nurturing his sibling's potential. Reflecting on their journey, Inaki states, "As an older brother, it makes me really proud to see how he has grown, to see how he is improving as a footballer. He has no ceiling."

Inaki's breakthrough as the first black player to establish himself at San Mames symbolizes a broader shift towards inclusivity in Basque football. Their success paved the way for other children of immigrants to break into the predominantly white landscape of Basque football. Gaizka Garitano, a former Athletic head coach, highlights the brothers' impact, stating, "Their mother was key for their improvement. Not only in football but also in the way they are, the respect of everybody."

Ander Herrera, a former Athletic player, remarks, "In Bilbao, you find people who have been season ticket holders all their lives and they don't watch other games; they only watch Athletic."
