The spotlight will be on the Dutchman at Villa Park with Man United minority shareholder Jim Ratcliffe will be in-attendance.

Erik Ten Hag faces a season-defining moment as Manchester United face on-form Aston Villa on Sunday in the English Premier League encounter.

The match has more significance to the Dutchman who has come under scrutiny and his future at the club has been thrown under serious doubt as The Red Devils' poor start to the season continues to dominate headlines especially after last weekend's 3-0 demoralising defeat against Tottenham at Old Trafford.

The spotlight will be on Ten Hag again at Villa Park with Man United minority shareholder Jim Ratcliffe will be in-attendance.

United have now recorded the joint-fewest ever points after six matches of a Premier League campaign, with their goal tally the second lowest during the same time frame, after 2007/08 season, according to Talksport.

Worse still, the red evils' failure to banish last season's demons now means that they have less points from their last 15 games than bottom-half strugglers Everton. The Toffees have picked up 21 points during this period, two more than United's 19.

Since the retirement of Legendary manager Alex Ferguson, in 2013, no United side has conceded three goals in a game on more occasions than under the Dutch coach's leadership. Since his appointment in April 2022, Ten Hag has taken charge of 123 matches, and has seen his side ship three goals in 23 of them.

Another bad result will likely see the United hierarchy pull the trigger on Ten Hag. The decision makers are scheduled to meet in London within 48 hours of Sunday's Premier League meeting with Aston Villa.

United's executive committee have a longstanding meeting in the diary for Tuesday, which will bring together Ratcliff and Sir Dave Brailsford, Chief Executive Omar Merrada, Sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox. United co-chairman Joel Glazer is also flying in from the United States to attend.
