Manchester United and Villa share spoils as Erik ten Hag lives to fight another day
Manchester United held Aston Villa to a goalless draw in a result that could provide a lifeline for struggling Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.
"I'm very happy with the month we did," Emery said.
"Today, in the first half, we didn't control the match as we prepared. But in the second half, we adjusted positions on the field, and the players reacted better."
The Villa boss made tactical changes at half time and the hosts looked more dangerous in the second half.
"We avoided their transition and some of their attacks getting into our box in the second half," he noted.
Although United's Bruno Fernandes struck the crossbar in the second half, Emery believed Villa were the better team overall.
"They had one good chance, but I think we were the better team."
The international break provides a welcome respite for Villa, who endured a grueling September. Emery is optimistic about the return of several injured players during this period.
“It’s a nice moment to rest. This week we are going to work and recover some players.
"We are going to add Kamara and Mings, which is very good news. Hopefully, some injured players can come back for the next match against Fulham."
