Brazilian defender Thiago Silva has revealed what Paulo Dybala told him about a possible Chelsea transfer this summer
Chelsea captain Thiago Silva has revealed Paulo Dybala’s response to his request for the Argentine to join him at Stamford Bridge.
Thiago Silva talks up Dybala following Chelsea rumours
The Argentine World Cup winner is currently a transfer target for the Blues after an impressive campaign with AS Roma in the 2022/23 season and has been rumoured to be on the radar for Chelsea as they seek reinforcements for the upcoming season.
Dybala scored 18 goals and assisted eight more for Roma last season, helping the Gialorossi to a place in the UEFA Europa League final with some scintillating displays and was also part of the Argentine side that lifted the 2022 FIFA World Cup, leading to increased interest in his services.
One of the clubs interested in taking Dybala away from Roma is Chelsea, and club captain Thiago Silva recently shared details of a discussion with the Argentine forward.
Thiago Silva reveals contents of Dybala discussion
Speaking to Sky Sports during the British Grand Prix, Thiago Silva revealed that he had spoken to Dybala about a possible move to Chelsea following the rumours and noted the Roma forward’s response to the stories of a move to Chelsea.
“I’ve asked Paulo if it’s true that he’s coming to Chelsea,” Thiago Silva said, continuing, “but he didn’t answer.
“He’s a top player, he’d be a massive signing for us. I’d like it.”
Dybala could be a cost-effective option for Chelsea this summer, as the 29-year-old reportedly has a relatively small release clause in his contract that would allow him to join a club outside of Serie A for as little as €12 million.
The Argentine forward would bring a wealth of experience to Stamford Bridge after years of elite performance at Juventus and Roma and could be one of the bargains of the summer if his reported release clause is activated.
