A Nottingham Forest star has paid tribute to Thierry Henry for the turnaround in his game.
Anthony Elanga has cited Thierry Henry as a key influence on his development as a player.
The Nottingham Forest winger revealed that he studies the retired star’s versatility and strives to emulate his ability to play in multiple attacking positions.
Elanga, who has scored six goals and racked up eight assists, has been one of the Forest’s best players in the club’s chase to secure Champions League qualification

What Elanga said about Henry’s influence
Elanga explained that his recent goal against former club Manchester United was the result of dedicated training, including eight months focused solely on improving his left-footed ability.
"During lockdown, I trained a lot on my left foot," Elanga told Football Focus' Dion Dublin.
"I trained for eight months just on my left foot. Constantly, just hitting the ball left foot, left foot, left foot!"

The winger joined United's academy at the age of 12 and made his first-team debut in May 2021. The forward has since moved to Forest in 2023, becoming an important player for the club.
The 22-year-old is enjoying his most productive season to date, which he attributes in part to his admiration for Henry's flexibility.

Elanga aims to become a similarly unpredictable player, capable of contributing from various attacking roles.
"I always use the reference of Thierry Henry," continued Elanga. "I think he was really good at that, playing on the wing, up front, striker.
"I want to be able to add different traits to my game and be an unpredictable player."
The Forest man also revealed that he hired a personal coach four years ago to further his development, as he believes that investing in oneself is crucial for achieving success.
Forest are enjoying a successful season, currently in third place with a strong chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

Elanga praised manager Nuno Espirito Santo's man-management skills and the team's strong defensive record.
"The manager is fantastic, his man-management is second to none. The fact he can speak so many languages already helps the team in itself," said Elanga.
"For him to have a proper pre-season, with all the players, all the new players, getting to know them, and him laying down the foundations for the way he wants to play this season, that really helped the team.
"It has been showing the way we are on the pitch. I think we have one of the best defences in the league.
"We are really clinical up front as well. Chris Wood! It's all adding up. He believes in us and we believe in him, and when you have those two working together, you become unstoppable."
What next for Nottingham Forest?
Forest are guaranteed to end this weekend in the Premier League top three regardless of results elsewhere.
