Cristiano Ronaldo addressed the recent rumours surrounding his future beyond Al Nassr.

Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo has shut down reports that he could leave Al Nassr on a free transfer at the end of the season, with his contract situation unresolved.

Ronaldo’s rumoured exit

The 39-year-old joined Faris Najd in the January 2023 transfer window. He is in the third season of his two-and-a-half-year deal, and his contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign.

It has come as a surprise that he has yet to pen a renewal given his commitment to promoting Al Nassr and sports in the Gulf. Hence, there have been speculations regarding his future.

It was rumoured that he is frustrated by his lack of major silverware at the club and was linked with a move to Fenerbahce and Paris Saint-Germain.

What Ronaldo said

Speaking in a recent interview, Ronaldo addressed the rumours, stating that he was happy at the club and settled in Saudi Arabia.

He acknowledged his lack of success for the Faris Najd so far but remains confident the situation will change. While it is unlikely they will claim the Saudi Pro League this season, as they currently sit 4th, 11 points behind leaders Al-Ittihad, Ronaldo has his eyes set on the AFC Champions League

“I’m happy in Saudi, and my family is happy. We started a new life in this beautiful country,” Ronaldo said, per Fabrizio Romano.

“Work hard, respect the club, respect your contract, and believe that things will change—for Al Nassr to try to win more titles.”
