‘This is just the beginning’ - Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa promises more goals in NPFL

The 2013 African Cup of Nations winner scored twice against Sunshine Stars in his third term with NPFL club Kano Pillars.

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has stated that he will score more goals for Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Musa expressed excitement after scoring a brace for Kano Pillars in their convincing victory over Sunshine Stars.

The forward, who joined Kano Pillars from JUTH FC in 2009, believes his performance is just a taste of what's to come.

Following his brace, Musa took to social media to thank the Kano Pillars management for believing in him and the fans for their support.

He said, "Back in familiar colors, and it feels so good! Grateful to the entire backroom staff, my team mates, management of Kano Pillars FC for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to return.

"To the amazing supporters and everyone who came out to watch, thank you for the love and energy! Scoring two goals and earning that penalty was just the start – we’ve got a lot more coming! 💪🔥 This is only the beginning," Musa wrote on X.

Musa scores brace for Kano Pillars in NPFL’s return

The 2013 African Cup of Nations winner scored twice against Sunshine Stars on his NPFL return with Kano Pillars.

The 31-year-old scored a solo run and a goal from a team move, much to the delight of the crowd at the Mohammadu Dikko Stadium.

The former Leicester City man could have scored a hat-trick but he missed a penalty. However, his overall performance was impressive.

Musa's return to Kano Pillars marks a full-circle moment for the forward, who began his professional career with the club in 2009.

His 18 goals in that season helped Pillars finish second in the NPFL and earned him the league's top scorer award.

The performance set the stage for his successful European career, which included stints with VVV Venlo and Leicester City.
