The Northern Irish tactician further says a draw or a loss will spell doom for their title ambitions.

Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry has said his players must remain calm in order to beat AFC Leopards during Sunday’s Football Kenya Federation Premier League duel at Nyayo Stadium.

The traditional rivals are set to meet for the second round duel of the season, and McKinstry will hope that K’Ogalo get maximum points in order to boost their chances of wresting the Premier League title from Tusker.

To achieve that, after a 0-0 draw against Wazito in the previous game, McKinstry wants his players to keep calm despite the pressure that comes with the derby.

"My players are eager to get maximum points, but as usual, a derby is unpredictable, we must work for the points, stay focused, and fight for the points," McKinstry said.

"It is not going to be an easy game, we have to be prepared and do our part. We need to keep calm and get the points because a defeat or draw will not be good for our title ambitions."

"We had a tough away game against Wazito, where we dropped points, but we have already moved on with the focus on the derby on Sunday."

Gor Mahia are under pressure going into the match, as a draw or a loss would mean they cede more ground in the title race.

Gor are on 63 points while Tusker are on 61, and this only means that both sides must secure as many points as possible if they have to realize their target of being champions in the end.

After the Mashemeji Derby, Gor Mahia will be hosted by Tusker on May 28 in another match that will shape the title race.
