Adams helped Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 1997/98 under Wenger, sealing top spot with a memorable 89th-minute goal in a 4-0 win against Everton in May 1998. The win was part of a domestic Double for Arsenal, which also featured the FA Cup.

Arsenal legend Tony Adams has been inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame, joining an illustrious list of players and managers.

The former defender, who played his entire career for Arsenal, was chosen by supporters across the world through an online public vote and the Premier League Awards Panel.

Adams joins Rio Ferdinand and Petr Cech in the Hall of Fame class of ’23, along with his former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Hall of Fame honours individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Premier League since its inception in 1992.

Adams had already won two league titles with Arsenal before the start of the Premier League, and he went on to captain the side in the first ten seasons of the Premier League.

He made 255 appearances at the heart of defence, securing 115 clean sheets in the process. His ratio of shutting out the opposition in 48.5% of matches in which he played 90 minutes is a record for players who have played 200 or more full matches.

“Every time I put that shirt on, I felt proud, and it forever holds a special place in my heart,” said Adams. “I spent over 20 years of my life at Arsenal and enjoyed being part of several generations at the club and have countless great memories from that time.”

“I’m certainly in good company when you look at the guys it includes, and I’m happy to be listed alongside the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira and Arsene Wenger,” Adams said.

Adams also won the Premier League title in his final season in 2001/02, becoming a champion once again as Arsenal completed another Double.

The ultimate one-club man, Adams remains the only player to captain a side to top-flight titles in three different decades and is immortalized in a statue outside Emirates Stadium.

He was named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year on three occasions and once in the First Division, as well as being inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame at the National Football Museum in 2004.

To be eligible for the Hall of Fame, players have to made at least 250 Premier League appearances, made a minimum of 200 Premier League appearances for one club, been selected in any of the Premier League Team of the Decade or 20-Year Anniversary teams, won a Premier League Golden Boot or Golden Glove, been voted as Premier League Player of the Season, won three Premier League titles, or scored 100 Premier League goals.
