Cristian Stellini speaks after Tottenham's draw against Everton.

Tottenham's caretaker manager, Cristian Stellini, was speaking after the draw against Everton, where he mentioned Lucas Moura's red card as a possible reason his team failed to hold on to a 1-0 lead.

Everton found a late equaliser at Goodison Park to draw 0-0 against Tottenham in their Premier League clash.

The first-half was an end-to-end affair, with neither team doing enough to hurt the other. Abdoulaye Doucoure saw the first red card of the game in the 58th minute for shoving his hands into the face of Harry Kane.

Spurs capitalised, and the breakthrough came in the 68th minute when Kane finished from the penalty spot.

The Lilywhites suffered a numerical deficit of their own when Lucas Moura was shown red for a leg breaker in the 88th minute. Everton made the most of it and found an equaliser in the 90th minute thanks to a Michael Keane strike.

What Stellini said

Stellini thought his team controlled the game poorly after being a goal-up and a man-up, saying they had to be much better with the ball.

He said they had the plan to ensure Kane's goal gave them all three points, but he thought Moura's red card changed the dynamic of the game, as he believed the outcome would have been different save for that.

“The only problem was when we play 11 vs 10. In that moment, we go 1-0 and we have to control the game much better with the ball,” he said, per the BBC.

"That was the expectation and the plan. But after the second red card, the game changed, and they found an amazing goal.

"It was important because with 11 men probably the game finishes differently.”

Tottenham host Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next weekend as they continue to fight in the top four race.
