Arne Slot made a few changes to his side to face Tottenham, with Trent Alexander Arnold moved to the bench.
Tottenham manager also made a few, with Son Heung-min returning to the starting eleven alongside Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur.
Just 10 minutes into the game, Bentancur, who just returned to the team, was substituted due to an early injury.
The game went on until the half-time whistle, with Tottenham failing to open the scoring despite having the better chances.
Tottenham later took the lead late in the second half following a long ball from Pedro Porro to the path of Solanke, who laid the pass to Lucas Bergvall to slot home for the winning goal.
Liverpool pushed forward for the equaliser and got several chances but could not convert them, with Spurs holding on for the win.
