PREMIER LEAGUE Tottenham vs Manchester United preview, team news, probable line-ups: Will Red Devils compound Spurs misery?

The Red Devils are looking to beat the London club for the 40th time in the Premier League.

As Tottenham Hotspur host Manchester United, both sides are looking for a win that will boost their top-four hopes.

Spurs are coming off a humbling 6-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United and would hope they seal a win in order to ease pressure already piling on their shoulders.

Last season, the London club finished in the top four and would hope to achieve it again, but their performance has been far from convincing. Antonio Conte left after a disastrous spell, and in his place, Cristian Stellini took over on an interim basis.

The Italian recently left after the heavy defeat to Newcastle, and that means the club is again under new management as Ryan Mason is in charge now on an interim basis.

Although United won their last Premier League match against Nottingham Forest, they were thereafter eliminated from the Europa League by Sevilla.

They then saw off Brighton – through post-match penalties at Wembley - to progress to the FA Cup final.

United have made a considerable stride under Erik ten Hag and are the Carabao Cup champions already.

The Red Devils hope to get another win, and should they do it, it means the Mancunians would have achieved a season double over Spurs as the reverse fixture ended in a 2-0 score line in their favour.

Team news

Hugo Lloris will not be available for Spurs as the French goalkeeper joins the injury list after sustaining a hip injury.

Others who will not be available are Emerson Royal (knee), Ryan Sessegnon (thigh), Yves Bissouma (ankle), and Rodrigo Bentancur (knee). On a positive note, Lucas Moura is available after completing his suspension.

For United, Tom Heaton (ankle), Lisandro Martinez (foot), Raphael Varane (ankle), Phil Jones (knee), Donny van de Beek (knee), and Alejandro Garnacho (ankle) will all not be available.

Bruno Fernandes is a doubt following an ankle injury during their match against Brighton.

What are the stats saying?

Tottenham have lost four consecutive Premier League meetings, their worst run against Manchester United since seven successive defeats between September 2001 and September 2004.

Spurs have won just three of their previous 21 top-flight home fixtures against United, drawing seven and losing 11.

The Red Devils are unbeaten in seven-midweek Premier League matches this season, winning five and drawing two.

United are seeking to win four consecutive top-flight matches without conceding in a season for the first time since between February and March 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson.
