After their TikTok collections did not quite raise enough, Barcelona could be forced to sell one of these players to fund their summer transfers

Barcelona's financial troubles are well-known, with a debt surpassing €1 billion. Despite this, the club has shown interest in acquiring Athletic Club winger Nico Williams and RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo.

However, to make these high-profile signings possible, Barcelona may need to sell some players as they will not be able to afford Olmo and Williams unless they raise funds and manage their wage bill.

While the club's financial situation remains precarious, selling one or more of these players could provide the necessary relief and create room for new signings.

Here are eight potential departures that could help the club raise the necessary funds.

1. Ronald Araujo

The Uruguayan defender, valued at around €80 million, has been one of Barcelona's standout performers. However, with the emergence of 17-year-old Pau Cubarsi, Ronald Araujo is seen as a potential sacrifice to balance the books.

Selling Araujo could bring in significant funds, but despite the interest in him, his current long-term injury complicates immediate transfer plans.

2. Frenkie De Jong

Barcelona has long considered selling Frenkie De Jong due to his high market value and substantial wages since the former Ajax man is reportedly the club’s highest-paid player and has also generated interest from suitors.

The Dutch midfielder, however, remains steadfast in his desire to stay at the club. Like Araujo, De Jong is also injured, making a summer transfer difficult.

3. Ansu Fati

Once seen as a future star, Ansu Fati's career has been marred by injuries and inconsistency and the forward could be sacrificed for a Barcelona future that he was supposed to be part of.

Barcelona is reportedly open to selling him after his loan spell last season at Brighton in the Premier League, but his hefty salary could deter potential buyers. Moving Fati could free up valuable wages and bring in a substantial transfer fee that could be used for Olmo and Williams’ transfers.

4. Clement Lenglet

The French centre-back spent last season on loan with Aston Villa and is another player Barcelona are keen to offload after six years with the club.

Like Fati, Clement Lenglet's high wages have been a stumbling block in finding a permanent move, but selling Lenglet could help alleviate some of the club's financial burden, especially since the French defender is far down the pecking order.

5. Oriol Romeu

After an underwhelming season on his return to Barcelona after 19 years, Oriol Romeu is looking for a move, potentially back to Girona.

While not a major earner, his departure could still free up some salary space, but the former Chelsea midfielder is not gathering enough attention for a potential summer move. Barcelona are still waiting for suitable offers to materialise, but they will not be holding their breath.

6. Mikayil Faye

The young defender has attracted attention after a strong season with Barcelona's reserve team and was reportedly close to a deal with Portuguese giants FC Porto.

Mikayil Faye’s sale could bring in up to €20 million, a significant profit from the €1.5 million the Blaugrana paid to NK Kustosija for the teenage Senegalese talent.

7. Raphinha

Since joining from Leeds in 2022, Brazilian winger Raphinha has shown flashes of brilliance but has not fully settled at Barcelona, even getting played out of position to accommodate youngster Lamine Yamal last season.

With Nico Williams, who is a natural left-winger compared to Raphinha, being targeted as a potential replacement, the club might consider selling Brazilian to raise funds and make room in the squad.

8. Ferran Torres

Similar to Raphinha, Torres has struggled to find consistent form at Barcelona since his January 2022 move from Manchester City and could be headed for the exit to finance moves for Williams and Olmo.

Despite his talent, the club may decide to sell him, especially if it means securing the likes of Williams or Olmo, who showed their quality during the 2024 Euros. Torres has expressed a desire to stay, but financial realities may force a different outcome.
