Mikel Arteta has reportedly stepped up plans to bring in a replacement for Thomas Partey who is expected to leave the club this summer.

Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a deal for Boca Juniors' 22-year-old midfielder Ezequiel Fernandez, who impressed for Argentina at the Olympics.

Fernandez's entourage have reportedly been informed of Arsenal's interest, according to Argentine journalist Diego Monroig, via Football London.

The Gunners have previously scouted the midfielder but may face competition from Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah, who have already tabled a bid.

Ezequiel Fernandez to Arsenal?

Fernandez is seen as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey, who has been linked to a move to Saudi Arabia.

Partey's injury troubles have made it difficult for Arsenal to rely on him for a full season, prompting the search for a suitable replacement.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are expected to offload several players after Emile Smith Rowe completed a move to Fulham, as Arteta looks to trim his squad ahead of the new season.

Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah are other senior players expected to leave the club this summer.

The Gunners are also strongly linked to Spain's EURO 2024 winner Fabian Ruiz.
