Guardiola on Alvarez exit and replacement
In a pre-game press conference ahead of the Community Shield match against Manchester United, Guardiola discussed Alvarez's exit and the possibility of signing a replacement.
"Julian told me he wants a new challenge, feels it's what he needs to do," Guardiola explained.
"Last season he played a lot, sometimes with Erling, but I understand there were moments he didn't play. I've always said that if you're not happy, why should you stay? Contracts can be broken."
Regarding a potential replacement for Alvarez, Guardiola remained tight-lipped, saying, "I don't know yet, we talk every day, we'll see what happens. It could happen, it could not happen. We'll see."
Guardiola's comments suggest that the club is open to finding a suitable replacement for Alvarez, but no decision has been made yet.
With the new season just around the corner, City fans will be eager to see how the team adapts to the departure of the prolific forward
