Transfer News: Man United reach agreement with Bayern for defender but will only sign on one condition

Manchester United are close to completing the deal for a defensive signing from Bayern Munich. But before completing the deal, they have to scale a hurdle.

Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Moroccan defender Noussair Mazraoui as they seek to strengthen their right-back slot ahead of next season.

The 26-year-old joined the Bavarians from Ajax in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer. However, he has failed to let sparks fly, and Bayern are open to parting ways with him. Manchester United are keen but a move for him is conditioned on the exit of Aaron Wan Bissaka.

What has to happen?

According to a report from the Guardian, the Red Devils reached an agreement on a fee between £15 and £20 million for Mazraoui; however, they have to complete the sale of Wan Bissaka for the deal to forge ahead.

Wan Bissaka, who started 20 league games in the Premier League last season, has a different profile from what Erik ten Hag desires from his full-back. The Red Devils have transfer-listed him and will have to sell him before an acquisition of Mazraoui, who fits the bill better in a Ten Hag team, can be possible.

Mazraoui has previously played under the Dutch manager. He was under the tutelage of the Manchester United manager during his time at Ajax from the 2017/18 season till ten Hag left the club.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have reported set a €60 million price tag for Jason Sancho amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain
