Ronaldo has been a source of debate after failing to find the net in four matches and his emotional response to a missed penalty in extra time against Slovenia.

Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has suggested that Euro 2024 might be Cristiano Ronaldo's final major tournament with Portugal.

This aligns with Ronaldo's previous statements about Euro 2024 being his last European Championship appearance.

"I can't imagine that (he'll play in 2026),' Ferguson told SportBild, as per Metro.

"Football will become even faster and more athletic in the coming years. In addition, the space for central strikers will become increasingly smaller.

"In contrast to defenders, it is more difficult for strikers to play at the highest level when they are older."

Ferguson acknowledged Ronaldo's legendary status, praising the 39-year-old with 11 major tournaments under his belt as "one of the greatest footballers of all time."

However, he suggested that perhaps at this "One or two more titles would not mean much to him, because he has had a unique career," Ferguson added.

The 39-year-old forward, Portugal's all-time leading scorer, is gearing up for the quarter-final clash against France after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Slovenia.

However, Ronaldo has faced criticism for his lack of goals (0 in 4 games) and emotional reaction after missing a crucial penalty.
