The brewers have shaken up their friendly matches programme after Vital'O pulled out with new opponents revealed

Twelve-time Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) champions Tusker FC have announced a series of changes to their pre-season friendlies during their one-week tour in Mwanza, Tanzania.

Initially scheduled to face local side Mbuni FC twice, on Thursday and Saturday, and to meet Burundian contender Vital’O on Friday, all matches were to be held at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Karume Stadium.

However, the brewers have decided to take a different route, demonstrating their commitment to exploring new avenues and challenges.

The first alteration sees Tusker now pitted against Coastal Union on Thursday at the Ushirika Stadium in Moshi, a change that promises to add an intriguing twist to their pre-season journey.

Robert Matano's charges will then shift their focus to a match against Mbuni FC at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Karume Stadium in Arusha.

Tusker arrived in Arusha on a high note last weekend, with an impressive roster of players, including some promising new signings.

Among the fresh faces is midfielder Fabien Adikiny, hailing from Murang’a Seal, and the dynamic duo from Nzoia Sugar, James Kibande, Joseph Mwangi and Ugandan winger John ‘Tooki’ Byamukama.

Additionally, the team welcomed goalkeeper Edwin Simiyu, who was promoted from the youth team, signifying Tusker FC's commitment to nurturing and harnessing local talent.

The team's decision to revamp its squad comes on the heels of their commendable second-place finish in the recently concluded 2022/23 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season.

Matano, the architect behind Tusker FC's strategic transformation, conveyed his enthusiasm for the new additions and the fresh approach the team is adopting.

"We are trying to bring in players who can bring new life to the team, who can change our style of play and put more life into the team. We have been seeing these players where they have been playing. They are new in Tusker but not football. We want to do things a little bit differently this time round,” Matano emphasised.

Tanzanian defender David Mwasa has seamlessly integrated into Tusker's pre-season camp in Arusha, where he is being assessed by coaches with the aim of getting signed by the club.
