The tough tackling defender joined the Ruaraka-based side at the start of the season.

Tusker defender Boniface 'Kajos' Onyango has begun some early fitness work as he continues his recovery from a debilitating knee injury.

Onyango required knee surgery after he suffered a ligament damage during his last assignment for the Brewers that was against Police FC on January 28.

The defender was expected to be out for several months but on Thursday, Tusker posted an update to show he is no longer using crutches to get around and is not even wearing a knee brace as he worked out in the club's Ruaraka Stadium gym.

"Just a fortnight after undergoing knee surgery, Kajos has started his path to recovery with some upper body strength training," a Tusker statement said.

Onyango was in the stands for Tusker's game against Posta Rangers on February 26.

The defender has been instrumental for the Brewers since joining from Kariobangi Sharks and is quickly establishing himself among the best in the country.

Tusker also hopes their captain Humphrey Mieno and midfielder Rodgers Ouma will soon be able to join team training. The duo has not played for the last two weeks as they have all been sidelined due to various injuries.

Robert Matano’s charges currently lie fourth on the log with 31 points garnered from 16 matches played this season.

The Brewers are next in action on Saturday, when they take a break from the title race to play Berlin FC in FKF Cup Round of 32.

Their next league game is against Bandari on Wednesday at the Ruaraka Stadium. The game is scheduled to kick off at 1500EAT.
