The coach's assertion comes after he was rumoured to be on his way out after the Brewers ended the season without a trophy.

Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has affirmed he will not part ways with the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) giants.

Since the Brewers lost the Premier League title to Gor Mahia and were unable to secure the CAF ticket even through the FKF Cup, speculation that the club and the coach were close to parting ways mounted.

However, the experienced coach has described Tusker as 'home' and said that he is not going to leave.

"Tusker is like home to me," Matano said. "I am not going to leave."

Although the Premier League winner has asserted his desire to continue serving the former champions, speculation about his future is not expected to cool down soon. With head coach positions vacant in some conferences, he is set to be linked with an exit.

Previously, he was seen as the front-runner to take the job at Bandari, but the coastal side has tilted towards appointing Twahir Muhiddin, although the official announcement is yet to be made.

Patrick Aussems' resignation at AFC Leopards is the latest development at a Premier League club, and Matano may be linked with the job.

An opportunity to rejoin a club that he helped win the FKF Cup in 2017 might be tempting for the Tusker coach. Another opportunity arose at Nzoia Sugar after the club confirmed the exit of Salim Babu but financial constraints will rule Matano out of the job.

KCB are also set to appoint a new coach after Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno's contract was not renewed. Working for a different club with different ambitions could be a challenge Matano would want to experiment with.
