Bandari, alongside Kariobangi Sharks are the two clubs that place an emphasis on developing youth according to Muhidin.
Bandari interim coach Twahir Muhidin has explained the benefits of using young players at Bandari and stressed how it will be beneficial to helping Harambee Stars achieve its aim of qualifying for the World Cup in future.
Muhidin was appointed interim coach after Anthony Modo Kimani was sacked at the beginning of May. He is also the current technical director of the club and boasts over 30 years-experience coaching.
Speaking to Bandari FC, former Harambee Stars coach stressed that although young players may not deliver results instantly, patience in them may reap rewards in the long run, having experienced this first hand while coaching at Mombasa Wanderers in the 1980s.

“ I know the benefits of using young players. Part of our legacy is to be pioneers of giving young players chances. At Mombasa Wanderers in 1985 , I worked with a squad of an average age of just 19!
‘Understandably, we finished last and went straight back down but returned to the top flight straight up. We finished 6 positions higher and then made the top ten positions in the second season.”
Muhidin is an instructor for Football Kenya Federation who educates coaches doing their coaching badges. He emphasizes the importance of giving young players chances while instructing the coaches during the courses.

He also stressed that Bandari possesses some of the most promising young players and emphasizes that the club is seeking to develop them.
“When we give the CAF D license courses, we stress that ‘he who has the youth has the future’. Therefore at Bandari, our team has one of the youngest squads alongside Kariobangi Sharks, but some players have experience in certain positions. I believe we have a good blend of youth and experience which will enable us to be competitive sooner or later.
If Kenya are to qualify for the World Cup after FIFA increased the number of teams from 32 to 48, these young players have to be willing to listen to us and learn.
Bandari are currently sixth in the FKF Premier League table with four matches left to play. Under Muhidin, they have played three matches, winning two, including a 7-2 mauling of Vihiga Bullets and drawing one.
“ The fans should not give up and should support us every step of the way. We will try to rectify the mistakes we have made before and try to finish as highly as possible. The fans are the 12th man and we need that extra support.
“We are on the right track. The players are heading in the right direction and ready to move forwards as a unit.
