PSG coach Christophe Galtier believes his side can beat Bayern Munich by being aggressive
Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier has called on his side to show more aggression and go for the win against Bayern Munich when the sides meet in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg on Wednesday.
PSG need to overturn first-leg deficit
PSG suffered a defeat to Bayern Munich the last time the two clubs met, as a goal from ex-PSG player Kingsley Coman condemned Le Parisiens to a 1-0 loss at the Parc des Princes.
With the team needing to beat Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena to qualify for the quarterfinals, Galtier has urged his side to be more daring against the Bavarians and try to unsettle them in their own stadium.
In a press conference ahead of the tie, Galtier said, "We will quite simply need to play a lot more, with a different game plan to the one we had in the first leg.
“We will need to have a lot more of the ball, play higher up the pitch, and win the ball back deeper in the opposition's half.”
Galtier wants PSG to be more audacious
Speaking further on the approach that he wants his side to take against Bayern, saying that the team needed to be daring against their hosts while keeping their wits about them.
He said, “We want to show another side of us to the one we showed in the first leg. We will need to remain vigilant and audacious in the attack."
Bayern Munich have won three of the last four games against PSG, although one of those wins still saw PSG qualify at Bayern’s expense via the now-defunct away goals rule.
If PSG are to get the better of Bayern Munich, they will need to do exactly what Galtier has said by being taking the game to the Bavarians.
