"It was good to have a natural replacement (for Ryan Flynn) and came on had minutes and played well. But it was a tough one for him to come into," the tactician added.

About a month after joining Scottish side St Mirren, Uganda Cranes right-back Elvis Bwomono finally debuted for the side against giants Celtic.

The defender signed a short-term six-month with the three-time Scottish FA Cup winners, with the option of extending it for a year, but had to wait for the January transfer window to get his first minutes.

Against Celtic, Bwomono came on in the 65th minute for Scottish Ryan Flynn as his side lost 3-0 to the defending champions at the SMISA Stadium on Tuesday.

St. Mirren finished the game with 10 men after Toyosi Olusanya got sent off in the dying minutes of the first half.

Meanwhile, Daizen Maeda, Greg Taylor and Matt O'Riley netted Celtic's goals on the night.

"We had to use the game to give him (Bwomono) some minutes, got about thirty minutes of the game," St Mirren head coach Stephen Robinson said.

"It was good to have a natural replacement (for Ryan Flynn) and came on had minutes and played well. But it was a tough one for him to come into," the tactician added.

Following the result, St Mirren lies fifth on the 12-team log with 29 points, while Celtic is top with 54 in 22 games.

Meanwhile, Bwomono signed from Iceland outfit IBV Vestammaenyjar, where he spent the last two seasons.

Besides Vastmannaeyjar, he has also previously played for Southend in the English League One, where he played 116 league games across four seasons.
