Uganda closed in on neighbours Kenya and Tanzania, who are ranked 147 and 151, while Rwanda dropped to 165.

Uganda Crested Cranes have risen six places from 161st to 155th in the latest Coca-Cola FIFA World Rankings released on Friday morning.

The Crested Cranes managed to beat Rwanda 4-3 on aggregate last month to advance to the second round of the 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

The win guaranteed the team 25.26 points which lifted them to 155th in the world and 32nd in Africa.

The team closed in on neighbours Kenya and Tanzania, who are ranked 147 and 151, while Rwanda dropped to 165.

Giant leaps

Nigeria and South Africa, who represented the continent at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, are ranked 1st and 2nd in Africa and 32nd and 45th globally.

Cameroon, Morocco and Ghana close the top five in Africa.

On the global scene, newly-crowned world champions Spain moved four places up to second while bronze winners Sweden toppled USA at the top of the table.

USA moved to third ahead of World Cup silver medalists England as France closed the top five.
