Bainamani’s explanations seem to explain the reason why FUFA Women Super League champions Kampala Queens faced a team that had just played She Corporates, who had beaten them to the 2021/22 edition.

Uganda Premier League chief executive officer Bernard Bainamani has come out to explain the weird patterns witnessed in last season’s fixtures.

Throughout the season, league champions Vipers SC played a team that had faced their rivals KCCA FC in the preceding matchday.

For example, from match day 25 to the penultimate day, KCCA played Gaddafi, Onduparaka, BUL and Busoga United in that order.

Vipers played the same opponent that KCCA FC faced in the preceding matchday througout the Uganda Premier League 2022/23 season.

Conversely, Vipers faced exactly the same teams from match day 16 until the end of the season.

Weird pattern

The particular genetical patterns had caused suspicions among stakeholders of a possible match-fixing, but Bainamani has come out to explain.

“We are using a system from FIFA which is still under review,” Bainamani noted.

“It’s good that stakeholders are pointing out some issues which we’ve been noting but it has nothing to do with favouring any team because it is purely a drawn by a computer system

“If you spot well, the system has been drawing a certain pattern even for other competitions, and we are giving back our feedback to FIFA,” he added.

Pulse Sports can also confirm that the same pattern can be traced in Wakiso Giants-Arua Hill and Busoga United-Bright Stars fixtures and so on.

Otherwise, one wonders how the League management failed to detect the anomaly at least by the end of the first round.
