Ulinzi Stars playmaker Ben Stanely Omondi has opened up on how his start to life has been at Ulinzi Stars since signing on loan from Migori Youth in the off-season.
Omondi was part of the new signings made by new head coach Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani in early August, and has been a regular feature at the heart of midfield.
He has, however, struggled to hit the ground running in terms of output, failing to register a goal or assist in all his 18 appearances so far.
Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, Stanley sent an undeterred message, claiming it was just a matter of time before the goals and assists start flowing.
“For now, in terms of football, things have not worked out the way I expected. I had set out to score goals and assists and they haven’t come but I think I am patient and I know the time is coming,” he said.
“I will keep working and make this club great.”
At Sofapaka last season, he scored three goals and registered seven assists in his debut topflight campaign, even winning back-to-back player of the month awards in April and May, but he has yet to replicate that form at Ulinzi.
“I wanted to contribute as much goals and assists as possible, I wanted 15 plus goals and assists because the main thing for me this season was to do that, so I wanted to break the goal record I set last season and what I had last season, which is the main thing.”

Meanwhile, the former Kenya U15s midfielder, who was part of the team that travelled to the UK in 2017 for a month-long football tournament in Southampton, has revealed his lofty ambitions for the rest of his career.
“The biggest motivation I have is setting big goals in life and my football career,” Omondi said.
“I have big ambitions in my career. All these things I have gone through through Sofapaka, Migori and Ulinzi are stepping stones if I may say. I have big ambitions and maybe I will achieve my dreams one day if I continue working hard.
“I know the time is coming and I know what I want in my football career. At the end of the day, I know I will have to settle. I know the period I have to make it because it is a journey and what I want after that.”
