The club has come out publicly to make its position on the matter known.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Ulinzi Stsr have dismissed claims that head coach Bernard Mwalala has resigned.

Before their Saturday match against Tusker, there were rumours that the former Nzoia Sugar had left the former league winners. But the club has moved to deny such reports.

"The club is aware of news feeds from various sporting forums and renowned journalists handles that emanated on Friday afternoon concerning the current status of our head coach Benard Mwalala," Ulinzi posted on their social media pages.

"As a club,we also received the feeds as a surprise to us considering that we had a do-or-die semi-final match against Tusker FC in the ongoing Mozzart Cup tournament the following day, and we clarify that Benard is still our head coach and continues to be.

"At no time did he resign as claimed in the media, but he continues to focus on the last remaining four matches and the future as we build a formidable team to challenge for the title next season."

While insisting the former Bandari tactician is still in charge, Ulinzi recalled the achievements he has had with them.

"Benard arrived when the team had already completed the pre-season and has done a commendable job in the short time he has been here," the statement added.

"He has given a chance to young talents that could not otherwise have gotten a chance at the highest stage. Today we have Staphod Odhiambo,a midfielder with five goals to his name this season.

"The teenager arrived on trials from Bondo United, and upon his arrival, Benard insisted on promoting him from the reserve team straight to the first team.

"He boldly insisted on giving a chance to Sylvain Omondi,a young rookie goalie on trial from GDC Nakuru, to be signed, and currently, Sylvain is competing for the Golden Gloves award. We have so many other examples that show his resilience and determination to bring glory to our club."

Although the Soldiers have posted rather less impressive results in the league, the club has maintained confidence in the former Harambee Stars forward.

"Compared to last year's performance, Bernard and his dedicated team have done exceptionally well and dared us to dream," it concluded.

"These performances have also revived the famous Ulinzi Stand 001 fans, who are now back in the stands cheering our team.

"We are proud to have Benard with us, and he is fully focused for the match against our dear brothers Kenya Police this coming Friday at Kasarani Annex."

The elimination from the cup competition by Tusker marked another unwanted result.
