FKF PL Furious FKFPL coaches lambast rampant match fixing in Kenyan football

A couple of culprits were recently arrested for allegedly trying to alter the outcome of a game involving Nairobi City Stars and Sofapaka FC last month. Ulinzi Stars’ head coach, Boniface Mwalala insists that everyone involved in football needs to earn the right to earn greener fortunes by working for it, rather than taking the shortcut route to earn a few bob.

Speaking to PulseSports, Mwalala said he was wary about his team’s form.

“I want to encourage my boys that every point matters in this business end of the season,” he said,“ We are not playing with our usual identity. We need to revert to our style of football, which is more attacking and more creative,” he added.

“We need to work on our midfield and sharpness in attack. Teams are sitting low against us and we need to find a way to beat that.

“Our setpiece deliveries are perfect, but we are not getting on the end of these deliveries well and we need to work out a way to perfect that.”

Mwalala is critical of his attacker’s inability to retain possession in the final third at the moment.

“My attackers are struggling to retain possession in the final third at the moment. Against these defensive teams, that needs to improve.

“Every game is difficult from now till the end of the season. That finishing line is very tight. If we improve on these things, the points will come.

Ulinzi stars will face Sofapaka FC at Police Sacco stadium, Nairobi on Thursday at 1 PM.
