Ghana's AFCON struggle
Once a might in the continent, the four-time AFCON winners have been on a steady decline in recent years, and they risk missing out on the competition next year in Morocco, for the first time in 20 years.
They currently sit third in Group F with a paltry two points from a possible 12. Last international break, Addo handed West Ham star Mohammed Kudus the captain band, to the chagrin of Jordan Ayew, the most experienced player in the squad, as reported by Saddick Adams.
Ghana went on to pick only one point from that round of games, drawing one and losing the other in the double-header against Sudan.
Otto names new captain
With the Black Stars' chances slipping away, Otto recognised the importance of leadership and unity within the group, and after he reportedly had a candid conversation with the younger Ayew brother, they addressed their differences.
Ghanasoccernet.com, as relayed by Ghanaweb.com, now reports that Ayew will captain the Black Stars in their must-win AFCON qualifier games against Angola and Niger later this month.
