United's striking hope: Ten Hag backs Hojlund amidst Premier League scoring drought

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United's manager, is standing firmly behind the club's new £72million star, Rasmus Hojlund, despite the young striker's struggle to find the back of the net in the Premier League.

While Hojlund has shown his prowess in the Champions League with five goals, his Premier League account remains unopened. This comes in the wake of United's goalless draw at Liverpool, marking their third consecutive game without scoring - a first since April 2015.

United's Collective Responsibility for Scoring

Ten Hag emphasized the collective responsibility of the team to improve their goal-scoring form. "It's not about one player, it's a group of all of us," he stated as reported by Daily Mail.

Ten Hag believes in attacking as a unit and stresses the need for better movement and decision-making on the ball. He also pointed out the team's need to be more clinical in finishing chances, referencing the significant opportunity missed against Liverpool.

Injury Updates and Team Morale Boost

Ahead of United's upcoming match against West Ham, Ten Hag provided an injury update, noting the absence of Diogo Dalot due to suspension, and Victor Lindelof, who is sidelined for two weeks following surgery.

The Dutch coach also mentioned that key players Casemiro, Martinez, and Mount are expected to return in January, with Harry Maguire likely to be back earlier.

To combat the busy schedule, the squad was given a few days off to refresh physically and mentally. Ten Hag believes the break, combined with the confidence boost from the Liverpool match, will energize the team for the challenging week ahead.

Looking Ahead: United's Next Steps

As Manchester United prepares for their next fixtures, Ten Hag is focused on building the team's resilience and offensive capabilities.

With key players out and a recent dry spell in scoring, the pressure is on for United to bounce back and make a strong statement in their upcoming matches.

\Ten Hag's faith in his team, especially in young talents like Hojlund, will be crucial as they navigate through this challenging period.
