The Reds risk losing Van Dijk and two other key players to free transfers at the end of the season
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk's future with the club is uncertain as he enters the final season of his current deal.
There has been little movement in extending the Dutch defender's contract at Anfield, leaving both fans and the player anxious about what lies ahead.
No Contract Offer on the Table for Van Dijk
Virgil van Dijk has been one of Liverpool's most important players since joining in 2018, helping the club win the Premier League and Champions League, but the Netherlands international is yet to receive an extension offer as he enters the final year of his current contract.
The 32-year-old Dutch centre-back returned to action in Liverpool's 4-1 victory over Sevilla, marking his first appearance under new manager Arne Slot.
However, despite the positive performance and the club's strong start to the season, Van Dijk admitted there has been no movement on his contract situation.
When asked about the lack of progress, Van Dijk said. "There is no change at the moment.”
Liverpool risk losing three key stars
The uncertainty surrounding Van Dijk's future is not an isolated issue at Liverpool, with star forward Mohamed Salah and vice captain Trent Alexander-Arnold also having less than a year remaining on their current contracts.
Like Van Dijk, these players have not secured new deals at the club and Liverpool risk losing three of its most important players by next summer.
Van Dijk had previously stated in the spring that he wanted to evaluate the situation under the new coaching regime before committing his future to the club, however, with time running out and no contract offer in sight, the Dutchman may be forced to reconsider his options.
