What Van Dijk said
Despite a managerial change that heralded a new era, Liverpool are yet to make an acquisition this summer. This inactivity in the transfer window has worried fans, and recently, club captain Virgil Van Dijk was questioned about it.
He stated that he wanted the club to bring in fresh talent; however, he said that he understood the administrators were working hard at it.
"Obviously I think we should make some signings based on how long the season will go but I think they are working behind the scenes and I am fully convinced and trust the club that they will do the right thing for us and get the best possible squad in order to compete in every competition that we are in,” Van Dijk said, per Goal.
"That is the main thing I am focusing on having the trust and we will see what happens. I think they are working very hard behind the scenes; we will see how that pans out."
Speaking on his contract, Van Dijk coldly said, “There are no changes at the moment.” suggesting that the club has yet to offer him an extension.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been linked with a move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. The European Championship winner could be the Reds first signing this summer, but they have to make an effort to convince him, as the 25-year-old has repeatedly communicated his desire to continue at Real Sociedad.
