What Van Persie said

Van Persie confirmed that he is happy to join Feyenoord, saying it is a dream come true.

"Everyone knows how special my bond with Feyenoord is. I am really looking forward to working with the group of players on 1908, together with a strong staff, and then playing matches in De Kuip, supported by the legion, and achieving success together," Van Persie said.

Van Persie's appointment comes after Feyenoord sacked Brian Priske earlier this month, with Pascal Bosschaart taking interim charge. Feyenoord currently sits third in the Eredivisie, with 13 points off leaders Ajax.

Feyenoord will face either Arsenal or Inter Milan in the last 16 of the Champions League, potentially setting up a reunion for Van Persie with his old side at the Emirates.
