Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface is in trouble with the German Football Association (DFB) after his celebration in Bayer Leverkusen’s Super Cup win was flagged for being offensive.
The 23-year-old Ondo-born striker was named from the start in the Super Cup final against last season's second-placed Stuttgart. He scored the opener in the 11th minute before he was yanked off in the 41st minute for centre-half Jonathan Tah to make up for their numerical disadvantage after Martin Terrier saw straight red for a dangerous tackle.

Nigerian forward Victor Boniface was in good form as Bayer Leverkusen continued from where they stopped last season against VfB Stuttgart.
This did not prevent Xavi Alonso's side from going on to win 4-3 on penalties, and an elated Boniface was animated in his celebrations. So much so that he was alleged to have offended the opposition with celebrations.
What was alleged
The German FA announced today that they have opened an investigation into an incident of alleged “blatant anti-sporting conduct.”
According to Weltfussball, Boniface was accused of having shown opposition players the middle finger as he ran past them in a wild celebration. Per the report, the DFB questioned the match referee, Tobias Stieler, and he denied seeing such an incident.

This means the matter now falls to the competition control committee to investigate the incident. Boniface has been asked to comment, and it remains to be seen what the outcome of the investigation will be.
Other reports claim that there are no TV footage evidence of the alleged incident, meaning the committee will have to rely on eyewitnesses in their investigation.
Meanwhile, underscoring his high spirits following the Super Cup win, Boniface gave out ₦2 million on X via a social media influencer.
