Victor Osimhen's contract renewal has reportedly been finalised, awaiting announcement. Here are four key things to expect from the new deal.
As Pulse Sports reported, Osimhen has reached an agreement in principle with his club, Napoli, over a contract extension, despite keen interest from heavier hitters than the Partenopei in Europe.
The African Player of the Year joined Napoli in the summer of 2020, and after struggling to truly justify his sizable price tag in his first couple of seasons, the 24-year-old has now truly bloomed and is widely regarded as one of the best in his position.

Jose Mourinho: It's impossible to compare Osimhen and Lukaku to Drogba
Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku will face off this weekend in the Serie A, with Jose Mourinho asked to weigh in on the duo and his former player, Didier Drogba.
He led the Neapolitans to their first league title in 33 years, but this has come at a cost for the Naples-based side, as the wealthier and more ambitious clubs now covet the Nigerian ace.
Despite this well-reported keen interest from all around Europe and Osimhen’s publicly expressed desire to stretch his legs on new terrain, he is reportedly set to put pen to paper for a contract renewal with his current side.
According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, the finer details of been ironed out, and the contract only awaits announcement. Here are four key things to expect from this renewal:
Contract length
Osimhen’s current contract expires in the summer of 2025, and Napoli risked losing him to a free transfer in under a season and a half.
However, the new contract will reportedly see him extend for an extra year, a deal that sees Napoli protect their gem from being undervalued or leaving for free, as well as giving Osimhen ease of exit to pursue his dreams.
Salary rise for Osimhen
According to Capology, Osimhen is currently on a €104,808 per week contract, which amounts to an annual gross base salary of €5,450,000.
Per the report from Fabrizio, the above number is about to see a significant bump, as the new contract will reward Osimhen for his success from the previous season and his current standing in the club and game.
Agreement reached on Osimhen’s release clause
At the start of the season, Napoli’s president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, claimed to have reached an agreement with Osimhen over a new deal, but this was found to be far from the truth, as both parties were still some way apart in terms of negotiations.
One of the reasons for this protracted negotiation period was reportedly the disparity over what the player’s release clause should be, as Osimhen still desires an exit, and such an addendum gives him an out.
Sky Sports reported that the release could be around €130 million, and although the true figure is yet to be released, an agreement is said to have been reached on the matter.
January exit ruled out
Osimhen will expectedly finish the campaign with Napoli and clubs like Chelsea that need emergency procedures done on their team in the striker position—with fans waiting impatiently on the January transfer window to be wheeled into the O.R.—will have to look for other donors outside the Neapolitans.
