The Super Eagles striker might be getting his move to Stamford Bridge after initial fears that he could be stuck in Naples this summer

Chelsea are reportedly gearing up to make their first official bid for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, with the Nigerian star finally set to get his dream move to a club of the Blues’ stature.

Chelsea poised to make first official bid

After a summer filled with speculation, Chelsea are finally preparing to make a concrete bid for Osimhen, according to sources close to the club.

Napoli have been actively seeking a buyer for the 25-year-old striker, who has a release clause of approximately €120 million included in his re-negotiated contract.

Despite his stellar performances, which saw him finish as Serie A's top scorer and lead Napoli to their first Scudetto in over three decades, there were few clubs willing to pay that amount for the Super Eagles striker.

Reports earlier in the summer indicated that Osimhen was keen on a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but the French giants have since pulled out of a possible transfer, and Chelsea are now favourites to land the Nigerian striker ahead of Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli.

Napoli ready to play ball

While the exact amount of Chelsea's impending offer has not been disclosed, it is believed that the Blues are "ready" to test Napoli's resolve with their first official bid, and that the Partenopei will be more willing to listen to offers well below Osimhen’s €120 million valuation.

Napoli have faced challenges in offloading Osimhen, with the player showing reluctance towards a recent €70 million offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, which the Naples club were prepared to accept.

If Chelsea can agree a deal with Napoli, the next step will be to convince Osimhen to agree to a lower wage than he originally demanded, as the Blues are rumoured to offer a more performance-based package to the Super Eagles star.
