AFC Leopards coach Tomas Trucha escaped the wrath of fans after supporters invaded the pitch following the club’s 2-0 loss to Ulinzi Stars on Sunday.
Ingwe fell to their second straight league loss, and a third one this season, when Yakeen Mutheli and Boniface Muchiri gave Ulinzi all three points at the Kinoru Stadium in Maru and that is when angry fans invaded the pitch.
In what is quickly becoming a norm, the fans poured onto the pitch after the final whistle and accosted the coach, throwing objects at him and it took the quick intervention of security personnel to whisk him to safety.
The incident came days after Leopards fans had issued an ultimatum to the tactician over their recent spate of poor results and when they lost in Meru, the tension was evident.
It yet another ugly incident in Kenyan football, coming a day after Gor Mahia coach Leonardo Neiva was assaulted by fans, leaving him with a bloody face, after his team surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Murang’a Seal in Machakos on Saturday.
The two clubs, who have the largest fanbase in the country, have supporters who are known to be too demanding and never hesitate to vent their frustrations at the coach whenever things are not going well.
