In February 2019, Kateregga moved to Maritzburg United on loan, who were struggling to avoid the drop, but he helped them big time to avoid relegation.

On 6th April 2019, Kateregga came off the bench to score a brace against Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1, the win would go a long way in helping the Pietermaritzburg side survive relegation, and Kateregga says his second goal was his best moment in the rainbow nation.

"It was exciting to score the brace, but even more with my second goal; that feeling of scoring a winner to help the team avoid relegation is the best."
